Bran Muffins

Cook together:
2 cups boiling water
1 qt buttermilk
5 tsp banking soda
3 cups all bran buds
2 cups bran flakes

then cream together:
1 cups shortening (blend with sugar and salt first)
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon salt
4 eggs
5 cups flour

Bake at 400 for 20-25 minutes
(makes a ton of muffin batter, good in fridge for up to week)
