Grandma Pallet’s Pie Crust

INGREDIENTS

• 5 cups pastry flour 
•1 lb. Shortening (cut into chunks) 
• ¼ cup brown sugar 
• 2 tsp. Salt 
• 1 tsp. Baking powder 

• 1 egg beaten 
• 2 Tbsp. vinegar 
• cold water Enough to measure one cup

DIRECTIONS

 Place flour in the bowl using cookie paddles
 Add brown sugar, salt and baking powder. 
 Put splash ring and lid on the bowl and jog on pulse until mixture has formed small pebble-size balls.
 Add shortening chunks
 Place egg in a cup and vinegar - mix with fork. 
 Add enough cold water to measure 1 cup. Mix well
 Add to flour mixture jogging the machine until dough has formed in the whips.
 Now your dough is ready to roll.
 Generously flour board and roll out pastry.
13"pastry circle for a 9" pie plate
Bake frozen pies at 400* for 1 hour
